As the winds picked up so did thoughts of having maybe bitten off more than I could chew and being unprepared for a potentially long and messy recovery.

While ultimately spared from damage by hurricane Sandy, the worry over the possibility of losing the property lasted well after the storm had passed. It was hard to keep focus on the fact that my fears were not as big or bad as other people’s realities, and that those people were more brave than me. I tried to ride the storm out by cooking and counting my blessings.

Both my neighbor and real estate broker reached out to me when they could have just focused on their own worries and their own families.

This experience has made me less cynical and more accepting of help.

Thank you!
